Instapaper 앱 리뷰

New premium too expensive, sadly

I love Instapaper and have used it for several years. However, I find the price for the new subscription premium really out of proportion for what seems like a relatively simple app. I would be very happy to pay another five or $10 one-off to upgrade my premium, or maybe $1 a month, if you can’t exist without subscription model. I only really need premium for full text search and no note limit. should these pretty basic functions really cost $6 a month? I would expect that the majority of users would feel the same way. I feel this has become a luxury app only for people with high incomes, which seems a shame. Surely if it was cheaper, you could get a lot more people contributing.

Mostly love, but some minor things

I’m a long time user and I love the simplicity as well as the latest features. Still, I mostly listen to articles and I’m getting tired of sharing them from Instapaper to Speechify so I can hear them from a high quality automated voice. Instapaper’s low quality speech feature is a non-starter for me and now, with many publishers featuring high quality AI voices, I find myself clicking back to original articles to listen which also defeats the purpose of IP. One last thing: I don’t know if there is an upgrade to Instapaper Save on MacOS. On Sequoia, I haven’t been able to save to particular IP folders. Thanks, in advance, for your attentiveness and dedication to an overall great product!

no tables !

I really like Instapaper, it makes digesting long articles a lot easier and you can do it straight from the web. Their interface is a little more user friendly compared to the original websites though. I can't seem to highlight singular words on websites themselves, but it works fine in their interface. Also, please add compatibility for tables and charts! Images work great but tables get really messed up.

The best read later app of all time

I’ve been using this on and off for over a decade. Yeah, Pocket caught my eye and I was on it for a bit but I am back to Instapaper for good because it’s simply better. It focuses on what the user needs, not what can make the company money. Pocket harvests your data and makes you pay for text while showing you ads. Instapaper simply lets you save what YOU want to read later. It doesn’t tell you what to read. Doesn’t have a need to try to entice you into staying on the app in hopes you read a suggested article so they get a cut of the ad money. Their premium features are very few but worth it if you like them and they don’t nag you to upgrade. If Mozilla really cared about user privacy like they claim they’d have integrated this app into their browser rather than the other one which may look slick but doesn’t offer much. Speaking of looks, the minimal design of Instapaper is everything you need in this app. No need to complicate it any further. I love this and always will.

Summaries Broken

Summaries are apparently disabled on random publications. Annoying.

Almost

I had been long considering switching to a different read-it-later app when I discovered this one and after seeing the interface and features, I was ready to jump ship from my old app. However, a huge downside for me was discovering that a feature as simple as notes (which in this app includes basic highlighting) is locked behind a paywall and you only get 5 free per MONTH, which I promptly used up in half of my first article. Unfortunately highlighting is one of the main reasons I use apps like this, so I will have to stick with my current app. To be fair it is a beautifully made app and it works well. I would have been happy to pay for more advanced features to support the devs, but this is the only app like this that I have tried that charges for highlighting text, which is a dealbreaker.

Great app, wish it *didn't* download articles

This is a nice app for keeping track of my to-read list but there's no way to not download offline copies. I wish I could disable this + also set my preference so that it always opens articles in their related app (if installed) or Safari.

Crash Report: Fixed

Thanks! FYI: the phone restart didn’t work, but the app deletion and reinstall did. Re: The app won’t load. It crashes within a second. Not even enough time to see the name of the app. I’m on iPhone 15 Pro Max and running 17.7.1.

Useful, but Read Aloud

Read Aloud tends to halt randomly and never resume. Sometimes with first sentences, sometime quite a ways into an article.

Instapaper > Pocket

After using Pocket since it was new, switched to Instapaper because Pocket removed way to many basic features. So happy I switched. Far better, better design, better fonts, etc. Might even consider paying just to support them.

Speak feature is broken

The speak feature freezes on most articles after reading a few lines of text. Please fix.

Huge Productivity Increase

I'll load up a list of articles I want/need to read and listen to them as I drive or do other things. Don't know what I would do without this app!

Search is Broken

iOS 17.5.1 Instapaper 8.6.2 Premium subscription Instapaper will search for text and identify which documents have that text, however the “Search in Article” option within an article has disappeared. It use to show up clicking the three dots for more, is no longer in the drop down. How can that functionality be restored? Search is virtually useless without it.

Saves nothing!!!

Just downloaded to my iPad. Tried to save some videos from YouTube. Pop up says “saved”. Go to app all are listed but none will open. Get ads for NFL Network and others. Terrible waste of time!!!!

Better than Pocket 👍

I used to be a Pocket user but this app is so much better. I really enjoy using it with my E-ink tablet. Highly recommend. 👍

Price increase is not reasonable

Price increase is insane. Bye bye Instapaper.

AI Summaries Awful & Ruin Usability of the app

Every time I try to swipe to turn the page it turns on the useless AI summary feature. And there’s no way to disable this. Newsflash bozos… I use this app to actually READ. I don’t want a crappy AI summary of the article I’m actually trying to read. Stop burning money on this feature, or at least let users turn it off!

Summaries are an intrusive joke

Can't disable them, and they took over the swipe to turn page gesture. If you don't pay for premium they nag you.

Please fix Speak bug

The recent update was supposed to fix the issue with the Speak tool freezing but it's still doing it. Please fix this. The app is great otherwise but this makes it very difficult to use.

Can I Download EPUBs???

I love this app so so much, but I wish I could download EPUBs to it! I has my favorite reading settings, so I want to read all my books here! Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hey Guys, love the app.

Your Speak feature isn’t working. Deleted and reloaded the app still an issue, can we get another update.

I’m back Instapaper…

Update 2/28/24: Perhaps I was too rash. Maybe I was just frustrated. But I’m back as a paid subscriber. I dipped my toes into the Pocket world and it just didn’t feel right. Instapaper has been my go to article saver for as long as I can remember and I just like it so much. Subtracting two stars because meaningful feature updates are rare and the developers aren’t the best at communicating or support compared to other iOS apps. Old review: Subscription price just doubled. The app and lack of any real development doesn’t justify the price increase when the main feature I use is search. More than half the time it doesn’t find what I know should be there anyway in the iOS app. I’m a long time subscriber and supporter. In fact, this was my first subscription on the App Store. Sadly, I’ve decided to unsubscribed today. I’ll likely switch to Pocket. It’s a little cheaper… and most importantly, didn’t just double their price.

Subscribing in the app DOES NOT unlock the premium features.

Not only has the price of the subscription doubled in the last few months, but subscribing in the app DOES NOT unlock the premium features for this app. If you try and reach out to the devs for help they'll simply ignore you.

Used to be great

The update in November 2023 ruined Instapaper for those of us who use text to speech features in the app OR through iPhone or iPad OS. Used to be a five star app but is one star at the moment.

Subscription just doubled!!

Have been a paying subscriber for years with Instapaper and it works well for the limited functionality I want : copy text from a web page and I’ll “read it later”. They’ve now just announced the sub will double in price from $30 to $60. First Evernote doubled their prices, now this. I think I’m moving to Readwise or just using functionality built into Safari.

Nice

Nice

deleted most of my archived articles

I kept many many important articles archived here …and then suddenly …on its own…the number of archived articles saved dialed itself back to 10 … I lost dozens and dozens of things that were important to me that I can’t recover…. be careful with this app… you’ve been warned…

Crashes a lot during read aloud

For some reason the app now will just stop reading articles in CarPlay halfway through and sometimes just a few seconds in. Please fix with an update.

Worst App

I've never subscribed, but it was paid monthly through regular subscription, and when I inquired, I said it was correct that I didn't subscribe, and I said I would cancel it, but it was paid again;;;;;;

Narration Has Disappeared

With today’s update the “Speak” narration option no longer works.

Great app!

This is a great app! It meets all of my needs, allowing me to save articles, sort them in various ways, and listen to them. I previously used another app but finally gave up and am glad I switched to Instapaper. Their tech support group is also very responsive, fixing problems quickly and keeping me informed.

It’s lovely, with some room for improvement.

I’ve been search for a good app to organize articles and actually get around to reading them. Instapaper is perfect aesthetically. It’s not distracting, just you and the words. However, the text to speech options…yikes. They’re all quite robotic, I wish there were a couple more natural sounding ones, because I would absolutely get premium if they existed. But yeah, all of the voices are just…not great. That’s really my only qualm.

Instapaper is the only way to read the internet!

If you are a speed reader and looking for a way to read the Internet at your warp speed, then Instapaper is the app for you! Can’t say enough good things about it!

My kind of reader:)

Sharing web pages to Instapaper is simple, and I really like the app fonts and layout.

I love it!

I am one of those people that downloads a ton of apps, but I never use them. Instapaper is one that I actually use on a daily basis. I love it. I previously used a similar app, but for some reason would always read all the advertisements that were on the webpage also. Instapaper is great, because we all know that when we’re busy doing something it’s so easy to get distracted by things that we want to look up/research. Instead, I just Google what I’m looking for added to Instapaper and let it read it to me while I continue about my day. Highly recommend!

App is crashing

App can’t load

Latest update broken

Been using for years and updates a week or so ago. Since then the save to Instapaper no longer available on my iOS device. Looked through the settings and no fix.

Awful

I have never got this app to work. Not once. Worthless.

Unable to Contact Support

Instapaper's support website provides two methods of contacting support: Twitter/X and an email account. I no longer have a Twitter/X account, so when I had a problem with a feature that was provided with my newly purchased premium subscription, I used the email account provided. I immediately received a bounce-back stating "The user you are trying to contact is receiving mail at a rate prevents additional messages from being delivered." Over the last two weeks I've followed up three more times with this address. I didn't recieve bounc-back emails, but I have yet to recieve an acknowledgement of my emails. I've asked for a refund of premium at this point and may have to result to a charge back if I can't use the features I've paid for. If you're getting value with the free account, Instapaper is still great. But don't count on being able to contact support if you have problems. As such, avoid the premium service. Which is sad, Instapaper must surely need the revenue but they need to provide some level of customer support if they're providing a paid service.

Subpar Service

Are you ok with turning off every ad blocker possible in 2023 just to save a we article in a reading environment? Are you ok with 1-3 of every 10 of those saved articles being processed incorrectly and just being a lump of code when you open it in app? In 2015 this would have been acceptable and a serviceable app. In 2023, you have many many better options. Customer support for premium subscribers is almost non existent, being incredibly slow and ineffective. I saw responses in about a week and the responses to my inquiries were often one line responses like “We were unable to replicate this issue.” With no other help. The next response would take 4 days. Walk on by this app, you can do much better.

Really nice, could use some improvements.

While Instapaper is amazing at keeping articles I want to read, storing articles I might want to go back to, and a lot of other things the text to speech offering is pitiful. The voiecs are archaic in quality, I have to copy everything over to Speechify to listen to it, because even their "enhanced" voices are not great at all.

I've been using this service for years

I love this app and use it almost everday. Be it on a mac, ipad or phone, I can easily add a link to the service. The recently added voices feature is invaluable. I use the feature when on a dull treadmill workout or commute. Cannot recommend this app enough. Its very well designed to boot. They keep making it simpler and better looking with every version.

Strength in Simplicity

I've been using Instapaper for a decade or more and have tried numerous other solutions, and I find Instapaper's ease of use is its strength. Not only does it save articles, it usually extracts the full text of the page, and can send that full text to a friend, readable even if they don't have a license for the article's site.

Clean, clean, clean

I've been trying to decide between Pocket and Instapaper as my 'read later' app. I swung 100% in favor of Instapaper. It seems to integrate more cleanly with Safari, my browser of choice. The clean, minimalist look of the app pleases me. And, finally, its intuitive to setup and use.

Workflow Efficiency

Instapaper provides a vital link in my daily productivity and the collection of important information. Combined with my Evernote “Second Brain” Instapaper is the link to the thoughtful reading and then retention of crucial snippets of information. It handles all kinds of sources, allows me to highlight and retain (through an IFTTT applet which automatically sends Instapaper highlights to my Evernote account) the information, thoughts, that expand my capabilities to manage the flood of information in the world today. Highly recommend.

Missing feature

Regret that latest iterations no longer have the shuffle feature in the sort menu. Used it all the time and enjoyed the serendipity of what it might bring to the top of my list. Please bring it back.

Still the best free app I think I’ve ever used

Just a unfussy, reliable, service that I’ve used for 10+ years. I read a lot of news; this app is perfect for helping me keep track of it all. The free version is great, but I’ve been paying for premium for a year now and the price is so low I’d say it’s worth it

7/27/23. Latest update crashing app. 7/28 Fixed. THANKS

Hey how long before this is up and running.
